Since its founding in 1976, the Department for Teaching and Media has produced numerous learning programmes in the form of slide shows with voiceovers. In these presentations, a slide projector carousel was controlled by a cassette recorder that also had the spoken commentary about the slides. This technology was always prone to problems and is now outdated. The content and images from these slide shows still is of great educational value, however, so they are now being reformatted and updated for the internet.
