AUM media dissertations
Medical students who are more interested in didactics than in research can complete what is known as a “media dissertation” in the AUM. In the past this led to the development of countless learning programmes for individual use. Initially these took the form of slide shows with voiceovers and instructional films, then CD-ROM based instructional media. Today internet-based learning programmes are the norm (see also Research, ongoing projects).
AUM works together with medical experts to supervise these medical student dissertations. Additional information can be found in the regulatory guidelines (in German, Ausfuehrungsbest-Mediendiss.pdf).
Many medical students have completed media dissertations with the AUM in the past 20 years (list in German, pdf ).
These learning programmes for independent study are still in use today; the content of some has been updated.
The AUM offers a wide range of learning tools in various media for teaching and private study. These include:

Internet-based learning programmes (e-learning : http://e-learning.studmed.unibe.ch)

Instructional videos on DVD and learning programmes on CD-ROM, which are sold in the media shop.

Podcast with instructional videos and heart tones.

Models for the physical examination courses of Clinical Skills Training.
